vierter stock projektraum berlin (VS) ist Projekt- und Ausstellungsraum zugleich. Mittelpunkt der Arbeit von VS bildet das Artist-in-Residence-Programm. Künstler wohnen und arbeiten in vierter stock für eine Dauer von ein bis drei Monaten. VS konzentriert sich dabei auf internationale Nachwuchskünstler, die während ihres Aufenthalts in Berlin Eindrücke sammeln, aus denen sie ein neues Projekt oder eine Arbeitsserie entwickeln. Im Anschluss an den Aufenthalt präsentiert VS die Werke in einer Ausstellung. Während der letzten drei Jahre haben Künstler aus China, Deutschland, England, Finnland, Frankreich, Israel, Spanien, Ukraine und den USA ihre Arbeiten in VS gezeigt. Neben dem Artist-in-Residence-Programm finden in VS auch reguläre Ausstellungen statt. Hierbei liegt der Schwerpunkt auf bereits etablierten Künstlern, die in VS experimentelle Werke präsentieren. VS dient somit auch als Laboratorium für Neues und Unbekanntes bereits namhafter Künstler. 


Kaum eine andere Stadt bietet derzeit eine so große Vielfalt an Kunstprojekten wie Berlin. Ideen finden hier viel Raum, um sich zu entfalten. VS wurde 2006 gegründet und ist seitdem Teil dieser Dynamik. Im vierten Stock eines unsanierten, für Berlin typischen Gründerzeitbaus begann das Projekt vierter stock. Seit Mai 2009 ist vierter stock projektraum berlin nun in einer Gewerbeeinheit im Erdgeschoss zu finden, und bietet Künstlern und Besuchern mehr Raum in einer neuen, eleganteren Umgebung. 

 

 

vierter stock projektraum berlin (VS) is both a project and an exhibition space. The focus of work at VS is the artist-in-residence program. Artists live and work in vierter stock for a duration of one to three months. For this program, VS focuses on rising artists from the international scene. During their stay in Berlin, these artists are able to gather new impressions from which they can develop a new project or work series. Following the stay, VS presents these works in an exhibition. Over the last three years, artists from China, Germany, England, Finland, France, Israel, Spain, Ukraine and the USA have shown their work in VS. In addition to the artist-in-residence program, regular exhibitions are also held. The main focus here is on established artists, who present experimental works in VS. In this capacity, VS also serves as a laboratory for new and unknown work by renowned artists.

Hardly any other city currently offers as large a variety of art projects as Berlin. Ideas are given enough space here to grow and develop. VS was founded in 2006 and ever since then, has been part of this dynamic process. The vierter stock project began on the fourth floor of an unrenovated, turn-of-the-century building that is typical for Berlin. In May 2009, vierter stock projektraum berlin moved to a commercial space on the ground floor, and now offers artists and visitors more room in a new and more elegant environment.
